A tribute to the nineteenth-century Black physicist Edward Alexander Bouchet. Bouchet was one of only six people in the country to hold a doctorate in physics in his day. Bouchet made history as the first Black man in the United States to earn a Ph.D. when he graduated from Yale University in 1876. The project was funded by a Cultural Vitality Grant from the City of New Haven, with support from the NHS of New Haven and the local community.
